The meeting of Centers supported by the CIHR was held in Montreal on February 7 and 8, 2006. The seven centers were asked to present their activities and achievements to date. This provided an opportunity for the centers to get to know one another and discuss their respective experiences. Several partners were also invited to share their partnership experiences with the Centers, including Sarah Flicker (Wellesley Health Corporation), Renée Liboiron (IRSST), and Marie-France Raynault (Université de Montréal). All three stressed the crucial importance of collaborating with the partners involved in the new initiative represented by the Centers, noting that the partnership experience has been extremely positive and productive and should definitely be continued.
At the end of the two days of discussions, it was agreed to put forward several measures, including creating a space for fruitful exchanges on the Institutes’ Web site to foster communication among the Centers.
The next meeting is planned for March 2007.
We have been invited to sit on the evaluation coordination committee for the centers, which will be meeting in Ottawa on June 28, 2006.
