Researchers and partners of the Center for Asthma in the Workplace gathered for their autumn meeting at the Sacré-Cœur de Montréal research center, discussing the latest news and activities.
Dr. J.L. Malo announced that for the next project competition, members would be invited and encouraged to explore new forms of collaborative work. Projects that involve national and/or international partnerships, specifically with researchers or professionals who work in occupational health in developing countries, will receive extra points on their evaluation. Dr. Malo also presented a partnership with another center supported by the same Institute of Population and Public Health program. An agreement has already been signed with the Léa-Roback Research Center(http://www.centrelearoback.ca) headed by Dr. Louise Potvin.
We have nearly finished preparing the pedagogical content for the online education project and are planning a meeting with the advisory committee, after which we will proceed to develop the educational software.
Members of the Occupational and Environmental Medical Association of Canada (http://www.oemac.org/) have invited us to present an Education Day prior to their next meeting, on October 14, 2007, in Banff, Alberta.
Students and fellows who received funding from the Center for 2006-2007 presented their projects and enjoyed the feedback from researchers and partners at the meeting. Everyone was extremely impressed with the progress made by all the students, who were congratulated for their hard work.
In parting, Dr Malo reminded members to send in mailing addresses for those who are likely to be interested in attending the Jack Pepys Symposium, to be held in Montreal, May 17-19, 2007.
The next meeting is planned for the spring of 2007.
