The meeting of centers supported by the CIHR was held in Toronto on April 10 and 11, 2007. The seven centers were invited to present their activities and achievements to date, an exercise that led to fruitful exchanges regarding their respective experiences. Dr. John Frank, president of the Institute of Population and Public Health, stressed the crucial importance of showcasing successes and lessons learned in the course of new initiatives undertaken by the Centers. This team/management experience has proven to be extremely positive and productive, and everyone hopes that it will continue. To wrap up the two days of discussions, it was agreed to take steps to publicize findings from research showcasing the relevance of such a structure of scientific exchanges, and its direct benefits for the population. The Institutes are proposing that communications resources be made available to help us to make our stories better known.
Upcoming event: The 19th IUHPE World Conference www.iuhpeconference.org on Health Promotion and Health Education will be held in Vancouver from June 10 to 15.
