On April 17, the Commission en santé et sécurité du travail du Québec (CSST), our strategic partner, hosted the first meeting for year 5 of the Center for Asthma in the Workplace. We would like to thank our hosts, with special thanks going to Jules Turcot. The agenda included the results of our scholarship and project competitions for 2008. Researchers who received start-up grants were invited to present their projects. The question period produced some dynamic exchanges with members, who clearly found the projects extremely interesting. Dr Malo noted the crucial participation of our partners in projects 2008, including a public health project with Louise DeGuire and one with Ginette Truchon of the IRSST . We also have a project with Maria-Victoria Zunzunegui of the Léa-Roback research center in Montreal, which is also funded by the Institute of Population Health- a project that will benefit from joint funding to our two centers.
The Center is pursuing its mission for knowledge transfer with an Education Day planned for June 18 at the Hilton Bonaventure in Montreal, a pre-conference workshop before the First Annual Canadian Respiratory Conference.
At the next meeting, scheduled for June 26, researchers who received funding in 2007 will bring us up to date on how their projects are progressing.
