After the researchers' meeting on November 29,2007, we forwarded your proposals for the scholarship competition and projects for 2008 to the Board of Directors. We are initiating the application procedures for the scholarship competition and projects.

The third edition of the Jack Pepys Workshop on Asthma in the Workplace was held on May 18 and 19, 2007, in the amphitheater of the Pavillon Jean-Coutu on the campus of the Université de Montréal.

The Public Health Department a strategic partner of the Asthma in the Workplace Center, hosted the meeting of partners and researchers held on April 19. We extend special thanks to Dr. Louise DeGuire for her extremely helpful cooperation in organizing the meeting. During this first meeting of year 4 for the Center, we were pleased to present to members the results of the 2007 scholarship and project competitions. The main item on the agenda was presenting the eight projects chosen for year 4. The principal investigators on each project for 2007 were invited to give brief presentations.

Scholarship and project competitions for year 4 of the Asthma in the Workplace Center
We submitted an interesting number of applications to the Scientific Committee for the scholarship and project competitions, which had a March 9 deadline. We are pleased to announce the submissions that were approved by the committee and the Board of Directors.
For the scholarship competition , we received five applications in the postdoctoral fellow category, three in the master’s and Ph.D. student category, and one in the summer student category. The following students have been recommended to the Board of Directors by the Scientific Committee and will be receiving funding:
